The Float Plane Program at CHI is your introduction to the thrilling world of seaplane flying. Whether you're earning your first rating after PPL or expanding your commercial credentials, our Single Engine Sea (SES) training will expand your aviation toolset through both loggable high-performance & complex hours, as well as opening up new horizons both on land and water. Our float plane training is offered at our PEASE location, featuring our 182B Amphib. We give you hands-on experience with water operations, step taxiing, glassy water landings, and more. Utilizing our scenic New England lakes, you’ll gain the ability to handle any seaplane with confidence.

SES PILOT REQUIREMENTS
There are several requirements you will need to complete prior to you earning your Private or Commercial SES Add-On. CHI Aerospace can help you achieve all of them and ensure you’re ready – and able – to take off and enjoy your time in the sky. Below are the requirements you have to complete in order to earn your Private or Commercial SES Rating:
Hold a PPL or Commercial License
You have either a Private or Commercial Pilot License to acquire your SES Rating.
Log 5-10 Hours of High Performance + Complex Time
You will earn your High Performance and Complex endorsements and log 5-10 hours towards your Single Engine Sea Rating.
Hold at least a Third Class Medical
You must have at least a 3rd Class Medical or have Basic Med.
Read, Write, Speak, and Understand English
You must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Pass the FAA Checkride
You must pass the FAA SES Checkride Exam that CHI will coordinate.
